POPULATION AND HOUSING CENSUS 2011  CENSUS IN SCHOOLS PROGRAMME:
The programe will provide educators with resources to teach students about the importance of the census so children can help deliver this message to their families. The programme will engage Jamaica’s youth to help ensure that all children and other household members are counted in Census 2011.
Who will the Census in Schools programme reach?
The programme aims to reach the following audiences across Jamaica:
  • Public and private schools through printed and web-based material
  • Students in kindergarten through (6th form) 12th grade
  • School administrators
  • Teachers
  • Households with school-age children
  • Educational organizations
What do Census in Schools programme lessons entail?
The teaching aid designed to:
  • Familiarize students with the census questionnaires
  • Immerse students in census data and encourage them to collect data on their own
  • Challenge students to get to know their communities and think about the needs of their communities.
  • Make it easy for educators to include the materials in their lesson plans
What will the Census in Schools programme offer educators and students?

The programme will privide age-specific educational material for students in kindergarten through grade 12.Materials include books and other material to aid lesson plans grouped by grade(Grades 1-3, 4-6, and 10-12). Materials developed were guided by the Ministry of Education curriculum for Social Studies, Sociology and Geography
