Confidentiality
Please remember, the information you provide is confidential and can only be used for the purposes for which it was intended. It cannot be released to anyone without prior written consent. There are penalties under the Law for breaches of confidentiality.

Important Facts

  • The census is being taken under the Statistics Act  which requires that all persons in Jamaica provide information  to the Census Taker, who acts as an agent for the Census Officer.
  • The Statistics Act  requires that all information collected in the census be kept confidential
  • Census Takers are required to take an Oath of Secrecy. This means it is against the law for a census taker to reveal census information to anyone, other than a sworn employee of the census organization.
  •  The census reports will only speak about groups of people and will not include information about any particular individual. The information will never be used in a way that facts about any individual can be recognized.
  • The information given will not affect any other area of the life of the individual.
