Montego Bay Communities and Population 2001

Situated on the North West coast, Montego Bay, the capital of St. James is nestled between the gently sloping Bogue, Kempshot and Salem Hills. Montego Bay is located at latitude 18º 28´ N and longitude 77º 55´ W in a bay, with the mountains rising in the background. The town of Montego Bay is located on white and yellow limestones in the inland areas with alluvium and swamp along the coast.

In 2001 34 communities were identified in Montego Bay, Norwood had the highest population count with 11,011 persons recorded. Whitehouse however showed the lowest numbers with 214 persons. The total population in 2001 was 96,476 persons.
